Division Winemaking Company was founded in 2010 by partners Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe. Kat and Thomas craft approachable, balanced wines from grapes sourced from responsibly-farmed (regenerative, organic and/or biodynamic), terroir-expressive vineyards in Oregon and Washington. The two winemakers employ minimal intervention with an ethos in French winemaking. Their focus is creating great price-to-quality value wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Aligoté, Chardonnay for the white; Gamay, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Nebbiolo and Syrah for the reds.
This is Division’s first foray into Trousseau. The organic grapes for this wine were sourced from Abbey Road Farm in Yamhill-Carlton. The wine presents a bright red ruby in the glass. Aromas of ripe red and black berry fruits waft from the glass highlighted with a hint of black pepper. The palate is light, though well-structured, with flavors of strawberries and black raspberries enveloping a savory core and silky, smooth tannins. The finish is punctuated with a lively acidity that calls you back for another sip. Pair with hard cheeses and paté, assorted sausages or crispy pork belly with a Thai garlic sauce.
