Domaine Louis Boillot is a small estate based in Chambolle-Musigny where Louis Boillot shares the cellar with his wife, Ghislaine Barthod. Louis started his professional life with his brother Pierre in a cellar in Gevrey, but they separated in 2002. His 6.8ha estate includes village and Premier Cru vineyards in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune including Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-Saint-Georges in the former, as well as Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay in the latter. These are wines of natural, unforced elegance which are made from low yields in the vineyard and without excess extraction or new oak in the cellar, which allows the character of the vineyard to express itself.
Vinous
- v88-90
A blend of three parcels, the 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a vivid bouquet with red cherry, bergamot and potpourri scents. This has fine delineation, though it's not complex. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, well-judged acidity and nice structure. Again, it just needs more complexity to manifest on the finish, but it is on par with the previous vintage.
