Champagne Vignon Père et Fils is a family estate led by Stéphane Vignon, located in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims in Champagne, where the family has been growing grapes for generations. Stéphane is passionate about the vineyards, farming the family's 55 different plots spread out over 7 acres as naturally as possible without the use of toxic products. Vignon is the King of Pinot Noir, as the family works mostly with this noble grape, however they do farm smaller amounts of Chardonnay. The wines are rarely fined, bottled with low dosage and are not filtered or chaptalized (nature permitting). The results are pure, terroir driven Champagnes that reflect the identity of the land and the Vignon family.
Les Vignes Goisses is made from 100% Pinot Noir from a single plot of vines planted in 1965 in the Grand Cru village of Verzy. Native yeast fermented and aged for nine months in old oak barrels on its fine lees before it is bottled without fining, filtration or cold stabilization. In the glass, the wine sits a gorgeous light salmon color with scarlet highlights. The nose is wonderfully expressive with aromas of wild strawberries, peonies, roses, red currant and cranberries. The palate is powerful yet well-balanced with elegance, refreshment and incredible depth and persistence. Enticing flavors of tart red fruits, flowers and a complex mineral undertone wash across the palate and effortlessly flow into a full-flavored, piquant and invigorating finish. This is truly one of the most refined and sophisticated rosé Champagnes I've ever tasted.
