Château Marquis de Terme was once part of the vast estate owned by Pierre de Rauzan which subsequently divided into four separate estates. In the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Marquis de Terme — one of ten estates — was designated Fourth Growth status. The property, situated in the heart of Margaux, is comprised of just over forty hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot in the famed pebbled soils of Margaux. Since 1935, the estate has been owned by the Sénéclauze family. Château Marquis de Terme crafts wines of grace, finesse and delicacy.
The Château Marquis de Terme, deep ruby red in color, jumps out of the glass with mouthwatering aromas of dark red berry and stone fruits tinged with notes of lilacs and baking spice. The medium- to full-bodied palate is bold and concentrated, displaying fleshy flavors of cassis, black cherry and plum accented with a hint of mocha. Fine-grained tannins provide an ample backbone for the textured mid-palate to help ferry these dense fruits toward a long, velvety finish. Pair this wine with any grilled or roasted meats… a thick-cut ribeye would be perfect.

This estate continues to make progress, and the 2021 Château Marquis De Terme is well worth seeking out. Ripe darker currants as well as tobacco leaf, iron, violets, and classy oak all show in its aromatics, and it hits the palate with a beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, elegant profile with fine-grained tannins. Older vintages have always had a rustic edge, but this is pure, polished, and seamless, with the class to offer pleasure today yet evolve for two decades if well stored. The blend is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot.
