Weingut Fritz Waßmer — established in 1998 — is located in the village of Schlatt in Baden, Germany’s southernmost wine-growing region. Owner and winemaker Fritz Waßmer has viticultural knowledge written in his DNA; his family has tended vineyards and farms in Baden for generations. After developing a passion for Burgundian Pinot Noir production, Fritz taught himself the intricacies of winemaking and founded his estate with the aim of crafting Pinot Noir and other French varietals by showcasing his “unique terroir in every sip.”
The Fritz Waßmer Schlossberg Staufen Weißer Burgunder offers a tantalizing bouquet of ripe orchard fruits tinged with spice and a hint of fine herbs. The palate is vibrant and generous... flavors of yellow pear and white peach coalesce with a touch of baking spice. Refreshing acidity and a distinct saline minerality envelop those fruits and ferry them toward a long, delectable finish. Pair with soft cheeses, grilled whole fish or roasted chicken thighs basted in lemon herb butter.
