Il Colombaio’s Gaspero 1897 Chianti Classico — named one of Marco’s ancestors — is crafted with 100% Sangiovese grown on their hilly vineyards composed of the famous Galestro soils of Chianti, a mix of loose marl, sandstone and limestone. The Gaspero, a delicious 100% Sangiovese, pours a deep ruby red in the glass, offering a hypnotic bouquet dark red fruit accented with hints of sweet tobacco, warm baking spice and vanilla. The medium- to full bodied palate is lush, filled with ripe flavors of black cherry, plum and black raspberries supported by a lively acidity and soft, silky tannins.
