The Meyer family has lived in Rhodt, a village in the Pfalz region of Germany, since the Middle Ages. However, it wasn't until 1950 that Karl Hermann Meyer founded the family winery and began bottling his own wine. Today, Stefan Meyer is the third generation to run this 8 hectare estate. Stefan fully respects and continues what he calls the "powerful tradition" his father and grandfather created in the winery, while also embracing innovation and modernization. The Meyer vineyards are located in Rhodt unter Reitburg, a village situated next to the Palatinate Forest. All work in the vineyard is organic, and all Stefan's wines are spontaneously fermented for maximum complexity.
The Buntsandstein Riesling from Stefan Meyer pours a brilliant light yellow in the glass. This wine is aromatically complex, offering a beautiful bouquet of orchard and stone fruits accented with exotic flowers and a light petrol note. The palate is well-structured and elegant with flavors of green apple and Mirabelle plum interlaced with a lively acidity. The finish is long and mineral-driven. An ideal pairing for seafood... try with shrimp scampi or sole fillet with caper butter. You will also enjoy this lovely Riesling with pork schnitzel.
