The Meyer family has lived in Rhodt, a village in the Pfalz region of Germany, since the 1700's. However, it wasn't until 1950 that Karl Hermann Meyer founded the family winery and began bottling his own wine. Today, Stefan Meyer is the third generation to run this 16 hectare estate. Stefan fully respects and continues what he calls the "powerful tradition" his father and grandfather created in the winery, while also embracing innovation and modernization. The Meyer vineyards are located in Rhodt unter Reitburg, a village situated next to the Palatinate Forest. All work in the vineyard is organic (the estate is working toward certification through Ecovin), and all Stefan's wines are spontaneously fermented for maximum complexity.
The Ein Liter Silvaner from Stefan Meyer may soon become a new house favorite. This easy-drinking wine has notes of peach, sweet clementine, and summer melon on the nose. The palate is light and refreshing with enchanting notes of pear, white peach, and citrus zest. Pair this with a roast chicken or take it on a picnic with sandwiches and potato salad.
