Domaine Henri Germain is one of the top producers of Burgundy wine today. They are especially known for the quality of their white Burgundies, of which they make stunning examples of Meursault, Meursault Premier Cru and Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru. For the reds, they have a monopole of the Meursault rouge Clos des Mouches as well as holdings in the Beaune Premier Cru Bressandes. 75% of the domaine's production is white wine, and they are amongst the very best examples of Chardonnay made in the entire Côte.
Today, Domaine Henri Germain is run by Henri's son, Jean-François Germain, who continues to employ traditional organic farming and winemaking. Yields are kept very low and vineyard work is done by hand, and in the winery Jean-François is extremely minimalist. Wines never see more than 20-30% new oak and are almost always bottled unfined and unfiltered. His wines display an incredible richness, complexity, character and depth of flavor that is unequaled in almost all of the region.
