Christos Zafeirakis is the fifth generation of his family to make wine in Thessaly, on the slopes of Mt. Olympus. He earned his master's degree in oenology from Milan, then worked in Tuscany, Piedmont and Alto Adige before returning home to Tyrnavos where he grew his family estate to 8 hectares and started the first organic vineyards in the area. Zafeirakis’ obsession is first and foremost with his soils, which are dominated by clay. All vineyards are certified organic and throughout the year, the vineyards are carefully and rigorously cultivated. In the cellar, all wines are fermented with native yeasts.
The Zafeirakis Limniona rosé pours a soft salmon pink into the glass. It exhibits a beautifully expressive nose of red fruit (wild strawberry and cranberry) with a light herbal note. The Limniona rosé is dazzling on the palate, reintroducing those red berry flavors which are supported by lively acidity and a stony mineral component. The finish is long and balanced with lingering fruit. Delicious on its own, but try this rosé with baked flounder Oreganata, pasta Primavera, or Moussaka.
