Outside of the town of Canelli in Asti, Piedmont, lies the estate of Ignazio and Giuliana Giovine known as l’Armangia. This area has become famous for the quality of their Barbera d’ Asti and Moscato d’ Asti. The Giovine family use natural fertilizers and allows the grass to grow between vineyard rows, keeping things as natural as possible. They farm organically but are not certified. All fruit is estate grown and hand harvested.

The Sopra Berruti Barbera d'Asti from l'Armangia is made from 100% Barbera grown on different hillside vineyard plots of clay and limestone soils. It is fermented in stainless steel and aged in a mix of oak barrels and steel tanks before blending and gravity settling. Mid-ruby in color with purple highlights, the Sopra Berruti exhibits wonderful aromas of strawberries, cherries and violets. On the palate, the fruit is concentrated and energetic with loads of freshness balanced perfectly by light tannins and a soft, rich mouthfeel. Enjoy marinated grilled chicken, assorted cheeses or fatty pieces of meat.
