Domaine Reine Juliette is named after the ancient Roman road, Via Domitia, also known as Reine Juliette (named after a French queen), that connected France to Spain and was important in establishing viticulture in the Languedoc. This 100-hectare estate (of which only 20 hectares are planted to Picpoul on red-clay soils) is run by the 6th and 7th generations of the Alliès family, who look to make high quality wines with lower yields and conscientious vineyard work. What sets Domaine Reine Juliette apart from all other wines in the region is that 100% of the family's production is estate grown and bottled, which is a rarity in Picpoul de Pinet. The estate is also HVE certified (Haute Valeur Environnementale or High Environmental Value), a sustainability certification from the French Ministry of Agriculture.
