Cave Bruneau-Dupuy — a small family estate located in St. Nicolas de Bourgueil in the Loire Valley — is owned and managed by Sylvain Bruneau and his wife, Angélique. The estate's 22-hectares of vineyards are farmed organically (since 2016), planted exclusively to Cabernet Franc on clay-limestone soils over tuffeau and sandy soils. It is the sandy soils of Saint Nicolas that give the wines and extra lift and elegance compared to other Cabernet Franc appellations in the Loire. All grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel and/or concrete tanks before aging in concrete or barrel. Cave Bruneau-Dupuy crafts amazing wines of distinction and elegance.
L'Eclosion is made from 100% Cabernet Franc from 60-year-old vines grown in clay-limestone soils of Les Turrelières. All grapes are hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts in concrete, then aged for 12 months in concrete eggs without any additions, then bottled with minimal SO2 and no filtration. Mid-purple color, l'Éclosion possesses an incredibly complex nose of raspberry, blueberry, blackcurrant and blackberry alongside notes of red flowers, pencil shavings and spice. On the palate, the wine is velvety smooth with soft, ripe tannins that — combined with the flavor intensity and gentle, persistent acidity — provide a wine of great depth and charm. Sylvain only produces about 130 cases of L'Eclosion each year, so I am extremely fortunate to offer this amazing Cabernet Franc to you. Enjoy with pork braised with chiles, roast tri-tip beef or a selection of assorted artisanal cheeses.
