Masseria Cuturi is a classic estate in Manduria, Puglia, a region that Pliny the Elder recognied as "the town full of vines" during Roman times. Purchased in 1881 by the Countess Sabini and acquired by the Rossi Chauvenet family in 2008, Cuturi includes 40 hectares of organic vineyards, 80 hectares of olives groves, and over 100 hectares of wild herbs. The Cuturi wines are born of an extraordinary soil, cretaceous limestone under layers of iron-rich quaternary deposits combined with the warmth of the Mediterranean sun.
The character on this label is Zacinto, a farmer who loved Negroamaro so much that he hid away barrels for his own secret stash. Zacinto is made from 100% Negroamaro grapes, all of which are hand harvested and fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Deep ruby red color with violet reflections with fragrant aromas of wild cherries, prunes, violets and sunbaked earth. On the palate, the wine is round and persistent with elegant tannins and energetic freshness that balances its warmth and softness. Enjoy with grilled sausages and broccoli rabe.
