Domaine Benedetti is a small, organic, family-run estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domaine was founded by Nicolas Benedetti in 1930, when he moved his family from Italy to the southern Rhône. Today, his great-grandson (also named Nicolas Benedetti) organically farms 4 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 10 hectares of Côtes du Rhône and 2 hectares of Vin de Pays. The wines of Benedetti showcase astonishing purity, depth and richness and each year, offer a pinpoint expression of the terroir and vintage conditions of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the southern Rhône.
Domaine Benedetti's Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc — a blend of 40% each of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne finished with Bourboulenc — pours a beautiful mid-gold in the glass, presenting aromas of citrus-washed orchard and tropical fruits interspersed with hints of wet stone and white flowers. The medium- to full-bodied palate offers ripe flavors of Bosc pear, white peach and honeydew melon supported by a delicate, yet racy, acidity and a fine minerality. The mid-palate possesses a lovely lemon curd note which provides a creamy mouthfeel and helps lead this wine to a dazzling finish, full of depth and complexity. Enjoy with soft cheeses, ratatouille, roasted duck or veal scallopini.
