Domaine de l'Évêché is a beautiful, 12.5 hectare estate located in the Côte Chalonnaise run by Vincent Joussier who purchased the domaine in 1985. The vineyards produced renowned wines in the Middle Ages, however most of the vines were ripped up in the early 20th century and replanted with fruit trees. Vincent's vineyards are the last vestiges of the viticultural history of the land, and his tireless work has once again put these Mercurey wines on the map.
Meix de Chaseau is a traditional Passetoutgrains, a blend of two-thirds Gamay and one-third Pinot Noir, from vines planted in clay-limestone soils that range in age 20 to 45 years-old. The Gamay and Pinot Noir are harvested separately and vinified separately in stainless steel. Mid-garnet in the glass with lovely aromas of cranberries, strawberries, raspberries and fresh earth; medium body with svelte tannins and refreshing acidity that flow into a balanced, energetic finish. Enjoy with grilled game birds.
