The history of Château Suduiraut began in 1580 with the marriage of Nicole d’Allard and Léonard de Suduiraut. Classified as a Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) in Sauternes in 1855, it has always been known as a superb property (its neighbor is Château d’Yquem). In the 1990’s, after its sale to AXA, the Château made significant investments in its vineyards and winemaking facilities, which resulted in a dramatic increase in the quality of the wines.

The 2020 Lions de Suduiraut is a gorgeous, approachable Sauternes that emphasizes bright, floral accents. Tangerine oil, almond, dried flowers, light honeyed notes and apricot all grace this airy, wonderfully nuanced Sauternes. The 2020 is 90% SemiHon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. This is simply impeccable.

I loved the 2020 Lions De Suduiraut, an up-front, round, mouth-filling Sauternes offering classic honeyed orange, caramelized peach, and spicy notes in a balanced, medium-bodied, already delicious package.
