Mas Pagés André 2022
Mas de Figuier — a 22-hectare, certified organic estate — is located in the town of Vacquières, just north of Montpellier. The property is owned and managed by fourth-generation vigneron Gilles Pagès, and his son, Pierre. In fact, Pierre (only 24 years of age) also farms his own 12 hectares connected to his family's historical property, releasing his own wines under the label Mas Pagès. Pierre's wines are clean and clear representation of the region and terroir.
The Mas Pagès André — a beautiful blend of Syrah and Grenache — pours a deep dark purple with indigo highlights. Fruit-forward on the note, this Pic Saint Loup showcases aromas of dark red and black fruits accented with notes of lavender and crushed stone. Silky and elegant on the attack, the medium-bodied palate displays a ton of blackberry and blackcurrant flavors marked with a touch of sweet fennel. The wine envelops the tongue with a soft texture, generous tannins and incredible concentration, all leading to a lengthy, velvety-smooth finish. Not everyone has access to wild boar, but any rich and hearty stew will be perfect. You can also pair this charming red with any lamb or beef dishes prepared to your liking!
