Established in 1927, Château Sainte-Croix sits on 50 hectares in the town of Carcès. Family-owned for four generations, the estate was a former fortress built in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. After being purchased by the Pélépol family in 1924, the property stopped contributing grapes to the Carcès cooperative and began making their own wine three short years later. The vineyards are deeply rooted in clayey-calcareous soils that are mixed with sandy deposits. The Pélépol family crafts exquisite wines that are not only textbook Provençal, but are dangerously drinkable and incredibly thirst-quenching!
The Sainte-Croix Prestige Blanc sits in the glass a brilliant pale gold color displaying delicate aromas of citrus and tree fruits accented by crushed stones. The palate is awash with citrus (grapefruit and lemon)-tinged white orchard fruits (green apple and pear). This white is rich and textured supported by a bright acidity and saline-laced minerality. Enjoy with all types of seafood... Try with a fresh seafood platter or pan-roasted sea bass with jasmine-scented rice in a lemongrass broth.
