Château Carbonnieux is an historic estate located south of the city of Bordeaux in the Pessac-Léognan appellation where it is ranked as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves. Such is its reputation that in the 18th century, it was served to the Sultan of Constantinople as "mineral water from Carbonnieux" so as to not break the Islamic restriction of serving alcohol. The white wines of Carbonnieux have been recognized as the best in Bordeaux, and are consistently among the top produced in the region, serving as a benchmark to which others measure their wines.
La Croix de Carbonnieux is the Château's second label, with the same amount of care and attention devoted to it as the Grand Vin. The wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sèmillon and sees time in oak barrels. In the glass the wine shimmers a delightful mid-gold color. The nose is intense with lovely aromas of white flowers, citrus, grass and vanilla. The palate is textured and well-defined with a lovely raciness balanced by a waxy and creamy mouthfeel. Enjoy with seafood, poultry or comté or goat cheeses.
