The Tonelli family of Fattoria Villa Ligi have been making wine in Le Marche since 1912. Today, third and fourth generation father-son team, Francesco and Stefano Tonelli, work their family vineyards in Pergola, with an emphasis on propagating local varietals, like the obscure Aleatico grape, as well as keeping alive local appellations, like the Pergola DOC, Bianchello del Metauro DOC and Colli Pesaresi DOC.
Villa Ligi's Vernaculum is made from 100% Aleatico (also known locally as Vernaccia Rossa di Pergola). The wine pours a beautiful ruby color with purple highlights and emits lovely aromas of cherry, pomegranate and small forest fruits. On the palate, the wine shows lovely freshness and energy: a delightful harmony of fruit, earth, tannins and acidity. Enjoy with cured meats, truffle or mushroom dishes or fish soup.
