La Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri is one of the iconic estates of Rioja and all of Spain. Remelluri’s vineyards are at the highest elevation in Rioja — 500 to 900 meters — located along the slopes of the Sierra de Toloño mountains in poor, stony soils with layers of calcareous clay just above the village of Labastida in Rioja Alavesa. The estate consists of more than 80 individual plots, all of which are vinified separately. These vineyards are almost always the last to be harvested in Rioja; often in late October or November. Organic farming — certified since 2014 — has always been utilized to ensure a wine that reflects the unique terruño. Telmo Rodriguez and his sister, Amaia Rodríguez Hernandorena, run the estate, whose motto "the future is in the past", informs everything they do. These wines showcase elegance, finesse, aromatic complexity and are built to age gracefully for decades.
