Weingut Peter Leipold is a family estate in Franken, Germany that produces a range of delicious wines from many of Germany's classic varietals. For them, viticulture is teamwork, with multiple generations helping in the vineyard, where all work is done manually. Today, Peter Leipold is the winemaker; he was recently counted as one of the top 25 young winemakers in Germany.
Bacchus is a grape varietal that is a crossing of Riesling x Sylvaner and Müller-Thurgau, developed in Germany to provide high sugar levels and deliver powerful aromas and flavors. Leipold's Bacchus is grown in Franken, fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Light lemon in color with a water-white rim. The nose is quite expressive, giving aromas of oranges blossom, rose water, candied peaches and dried apricot. On the palate, the wine delivers a soft acidity and round mouthfeel that allows the intense flavors to melt in the mouth. Enjoy with white asparagus alongside baked chicken.
