Domaine de Millet is a family estate in the Côtes de Gascogne region of southwest France, known for producing amazing Armagnac as well as some incredible value table wines. The domaine is run by Francis and Lydie Dèche along with their daughter Laurence. Their vines enjoy a north-westerly position on the green hills of Gascony, where the soil alternates between clay limestone and the sandy soils known locally as sables fauves. Francis, who is the fifth-generation proprietor, has a policy of quality: traditional grape varieties, vineyard cultivation with respect to the environment, and constant development in the methods and means of vinification. Laurence is ably following in her father's footsteps as she takes over the reins of this charming domaine.
Domaine de Millet's Côtes de Gascogne blanc is a blend of 50% Colombard and 50% Ugni Blanc, fermented separately in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to preserve the lively flavors and aromas, then bottled early to capture its freshness. In the glass, the wine shows a lovely light lemon color with snappy aromas of fresh citrus and sour apples alongside a chalky mineral note. The palate is light, crisp and delicious, featuring a zesty, lip-smacking freshness that gives the wine plenty of energy and zing. You can enjoy this wine as an apéritif, though it pairs brilliantly with a light salad dressed with champagne vinaigrette, grilled asparagus or light fish dishes.
