Gothic Wine was founded in 2009 by master sommelier, Josh Nadel. After decades working in New York City in the food and wine industry, Josh set out to craft elegant, Old-World-style wines. Relationships with top wineries built through his wine experience and years of travel brought Josh to the Pacific Northwest, specifically Oregon’s Willamette Valley. In its 15 years of existence, Gothic Wine has produced an extensive lineup of Burgundian varietal wines, along with an extremely popular rosé.

The Gothic Maelstrom Pinot Noir is sourced from Shea Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton. Brooding aromatics waft from the glass, offering deep notes of dark red fruits on the nose complemented with touches of fresh herbs and vanilla. The palate is packed with ripe red fruit — cherry, pomegranate, raspberry — marked with earth and a light dusting of spice. This Pinot has a remarkable acidity that uplifts those fruit flavors and helps ferry them through to an enduring finish. Delicious with a purée of mushroom soup, wild boar pasta or venison medallions with whipped potatoes.

Gothic Maelstrom - what should be the name of death metal band is instead a quite lovely Pinot Noir. A little bit of earth and funk is joined by boysenberry, sandalwood and lemon aromas worthy of a perfume. Cherry pie and rosemary flavors are backed by juicy acidity and silky tannins in this descent into pleasure.

Dusty florals and dried strawberries introduce the 2021 Pinot Noir Maelstrom Shea Vineyard. It's soft and round, with vibrant wild berries swirling under an air of pretty inner florals. This tapers off with medium length and a bitter blackberry twang.
