Established in 1896 by Giovanni Foppiano, Foppiano Vineyards is one Sonoma County’s oldest, continually-operated, family-owned wineries. (Foppiano survived Prohibition by selling home winemaking kits in the 1920’s). Foppiano, located in Healdsburg, was one of the founding members of the Russian River Valley AVA. The estate is currently under its fifth generation of leadership, with Paul Foppiano, President and Vineyard Manager, at the helm. The property consists of over thirty sustainably farmed acres planted to Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Foppiano’s Estate Petite Sirah pours a deep, inky purple in the glass, offering brooding aromas of blueberry, black cherries and blackberry preserves mingled with notes of dried herbs and white pepper. The palate is dense and seductive, coupling those ripe, brambly fruit flavors with a velvety texture and supple tannins. The finish is long, concentrated and polished. Enjoy with anything off the grill or braised or stewed red meats.

Plenty of blackberry, graphite and bark aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and very typical for the grape variety. Creamy tannins and a delicious finish. Drink now.
