Born in Berkeley, California, Massimo Di Costanzo is a proud Napa Valley winemaker with a global point of view and is one of the leading figures in a youth movement that is making wines that harken back to the traditional winemaking days of Napa.. Massimo found winemaking while at UC Davis and knew he had found his calling. After graduating with a degree in Viticulture and Enology, Massimo combined stints making wine in Tuscany, Mendoza, Stellenbosch, with longer tenures honing his craft at esteemed Napa wineries: Ovid, Screaming Eagle, and Philippe Melka Consulting. By 2009, he knew that to make the kind of expressive, balanced wines he loved, he would need to start his own project. A friendship with the Farella Vineyard turned into a fruitful partnership, and in 2010 he launched the debut vintage, Di Costanzo Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. His Di Costanzo project is the work of only two people – Massimo and his wife, Erin – who aim to marry old school spirit and elegance with a fresh, energetic and nimble flavor profile. Massimo lives in Saint Helena, California with his wife, Erin, and son, Luciano.
