Il Colombaio di Santa Chiara is a family estate run by the three Logi brothers (Giampiero, Stefano and Alessio) and their father, Mario, in the Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG in Tuscany. The estate cover 21 hectares of certified organic vineyards from seven different plots in the appellation on soils of old Pliocene sands, clays, pebbles and gravels. The family's goal is to produce Vernaccia di San Gimignano that takes its place alongside the greatest white wines in the world.
The Selvabianca Vernaccia di San Gimignano is made from 100% Vernaccia on sandy soils with large stones and fossils. All grapes are hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel or concrete tanks and kept on the lees until bottling in March following the vintage. In the glass, the wine shows a light lemon color with green highlights. Aromas of fresh apples, lemon, lime, thyme and white flowers plume from the glass. On the palate, this gorgeous Vernaccia exudes freshness with a vibrant acidity and strong mineral core to complement the fresh fruit flavors that stream across the palate into a lively, persistent finish. Enjoy with fried meats or seafood, pasta with white meats in sauce or a roast chicken.
