Azienda Agricola Picollo Ernesto was founded in 1945 by Lorenzo Picollo in the historic Rovereto subzone of Gavi in Piedmont. Today, the estate is run by Lorenzo's grandson, Gianlorenzo, who manually farms their 16 hectares of vineyards, all of which are planted to Cortese. All grapes are hand-harvested and Gianlorenzo eschews artificial pesticides and herbicides among his vines. Winemaking is simple: fermentation and aging in stainless steel to showcase Cortese in its purest form.

Picollo Ernesto's Gavi is made from 100% Cortese grown in Rovereto di Gavi, the appellations most prestigious subzone. The grapes are grown on south-facing slopes on soils of marl-clay and limestone at an altitude of 260 meters and fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel. Light lemon color with aromas of fresh cut white flowers, white peaches and nectarines with a stony undertone. The palate is light and refreshing with a vibrant acidity and impeccably balanced concentration of fruit, mineral and floral flavors that flow into a lively finish. Enjoy with a fritto misto.
