Château Cos d'Estournel is a Deuxièmes Cru, or 2nd Growth, in the 1855 classification of Bordeaux. It is one of the "Super Seconds" of Saint-Estephe, arguably producing the commune's best wine year after year. The Château gets its name from a Gascogne word, "caux", which loosely translates as a hill of stones. The cellar is famous for its Oriental inspired architecture.
The Cos d'Estournel Blanc is a blend of 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Sémillon. One deep inhale rewards you with tropical and stone fruit aromas with hints of citrus pith and flint. The palate is soft, elegant and medium- to full-bodied with layers of spiced and honeyed fruit flavors balanced by bright acidity and crushed stone minerality. This wine's finish is rich and super long. Enjoy with an arugula salad dressed with lemon and shaved parmigiano reggiano, asparagus risotto or pan-seared halibut topped with a lemon, caper and butter sauce.

The 2020 Château Cos D'Estournel Blanc, a blend of 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Semillon, brings another level of density as well as complexity. Honeyed pineapple, melon, crushed stone, and spicy, savory herbs notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautifully layered, elegant mouthfeel and a great finish. It's a gem of a white and ranks with the crème de la crème of the vintage. It should keep for 10-15 years.
