Quinta de Santa Eufêmia is a Portuguese Port house whose history begins in 1864 when Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho acquired vineyards in the Douro and began producing and selling Port wines. His skills and passion have been passed down from generation to generation ever since. Today, Quinta de Santa Eufêmia is in it fourth generation of family leadership.
Quinta Santa Eufêmia's Fine Ruby Port is a blend of 30% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz and 20% Tinta Amarela foot trodden and fermented in traditional lagares for 5 days before fortification with grape brandy. The wine then rests for 9 months in stainless steel before 4 years aging in neutral oak casks. Deep, brilliant ruby color with pristine aromas of ripe red berries, spice, violets and a distinct Douro rocky note. The palate is round and rich with great concentration of sweet and dried fruits alongside holiday spices and a touch of chocolate. Soft tannins envelope the fruit and propel the lovely flavors into an invigorating finish. Enjoy with a dessert plate of blue cheese, nuts and chocolates or on its own with a crackling fire and good company.
