Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac 2021

Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Deuxième Cru, or 2nd Growth, and one of the leading "super seconds" in Bordeaux. The estate is situated in the eastern part of Pauillac and some of its vineyards actually spill over into neighboring Saint-Julien. Founded in 1689, the estate has gone through significant improvements over the last 30 years under and is now under the ownership of the Roederer family.

The vineyards are planted to 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot on deep gravel soils with clay, sandstone, and limestone subsoils. The wines are fermented in stainless steel and then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. The estate's second label is Réserve de la Comtesse Lalande, first produced in 1973.
