Lang & Reed Napa Valley was established in 1993 by Tracey & John Skupny. The husband and wife team, who met in Kansas City while working in the restaurant industry, was drawn to California by the lure of vineyards and wineries in 1980, finally settling in Napa in 1984. During a time when California vintners were utilizing Bordeaux varietals as components to their red blends, Tracey & John became intrigued by the range of aromatics and flavors of Cabernet Franc. After crafting a prototype with purity of fruit, dazzling aromatics and typicity, Lang & Reed was born. Named after the couple’s two sons, Lang & Reed work closely with grape growers in Napa Valley, Alexander Valley, Lake County and Mendocino with the goal of exploring the distinct charms of Cabernet Franc and crafting wines that are both expressive and enjoyable to drink.
