Thierry and Céline Tissot work hard to realize a sustainable ecological future with a vibrant local economy to hand over to their two children. This husband-and-wife team are the fifth generation to work their vineyards in Bugey, a sub-alpine region in France between Jura and Savoir. They organically farm numerous small plots of indigenous grape varieties around their village of Vaux-en-Bugey that have been passed down through the family for generations.
One plot is a single-vineyard of Gamay vines planted in 1977 with southwest exposure in gravelly soil with a calcareous-clay subsoil. The resulting wine is a distinctive and charming local expression of Gamay: Light, bright, explosively aromatic bursting with freshness and energy. This Gamay has gained a cult following, available in exceptionally limited quantities. Enjoy with a plate of assorted alpine cheeses and cured meats.
