Easkoot Cellars is named after Alfred Derby Easkoot, a sailor and the first land surveryor in Marin, California. Mr. Easkoot initially surveyed the land where the vines are planted that made the Foggy Bottom Pinot Noir. The winery is located in the Petaluma Gap where the fog rolls in at night and cools down vines and grapes to produce an old-worldly style of Pinot Noir with a tangy and animating yet complex and expressive character.
The Easkoot Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is farmed sustainably and fermented with native yeasts and a small portion of whole clusters. In the glass, the wine pours a mid-garnet color. Beautiful aromas of ripe berry fruits, flowers and black tea waft from the glass. On the palate, there is a complex savory character that balances beautifully with the concentrated ripe fruit, soft tannins, and calming acidity. Enjoy with grilled salmon served alongside a roasted beet salad.
