In 2001, Vincent Roussely became the fourth generation of his family to own the Clos Roussely, a castle in the village of Angé sur Cher in the Loire Valley, that his great-grandfather bought and turned into a winemaking facility in 1917. When he took over, Vincent resumed full control of the vineyards and winemaking space (his grandfather and father had rented out the vineyards and cellar to build a négociant wine company). The estate is located in the best areas of the Touraine and Touraine-Chenonceaux appellations, covering 8 hectares of certified organic vineyards on soils of clay and tuffeau limestone with large flint deposits. Vincent does not use herbicides, pesticides or chemicals and prides himself on protecting plant and animal diversity within the local ecosystem.
The Irréductible Rouge is made from 100% Pineau d'Anuis. Light ruby in the glass with aromas of soft raspberries, pepper and purple flowers. On the palate, the wine is light-bodied with soft tannins and an integrated acidity that transition into a bright finish. Enjoy with a plate of cured meats and cheeses.
