Champagne Diebolt-Vallois is based in the Grand Cru village of Cramant in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne. The thin, chalky soils of the region are ideal for Chardonnay, and it is here where Diebolt-Vallois work their magic with this noble varietal. The winery and vineyards are mostly in Cramant, although the family also has vineyards in the esteemed villages of Chouilly, Cuis and Epernay. Jacques Diebolt has been making Champagne at Diebolt-Vallois since 1959, when he was only 17 years old! Today, his son and daughter, Arnaud and Isabelle, help run the estate. They are deeply involved in all aspects of farming and winemaking, from walking the vines together to cleaning out tanks to tasting and selecting the wines for the final blend. This is truly a family effort from vine to glass that results in one of the top artisanal estates in all of the Côte des Blancs region of Champagne.

Diebolt-Vallois' Cuvée Prestige is made from 100% Chardonnay from four different Grand Cru villages: Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Les Mesnil-sur-Oger. This specific cuvée consists of base wines from the 2009-2015 vintages. Fermented in stainless steel vats, they are then aged in large, neutral oak barrels for 1-7 years. In 2016, they were blended and bottled, then aged for 36 months on their lees. In February, 2019 the bottles were disgorged, with an added dosage of 5 g/l. The result of this careful vinification and aging regime is a Champagne of incredible depth, complexity and richness. In the glass, the wine displays a light gold color with a steady bead of tiny, uniform bubbles. The nose is expressive with a complex mix of aromas: yellow orchard fruits, white flowers, chalk and citrus all underpinned with notes of biscuits and toast. On the palate, the Cuvée Prestige showcases its Grand Cru pedigree with a soft, persistent mousse, mouthwatering acidity that is perfectly balanced with a rich, round mouthfeel. The finish is elegant, graceful and refreshing. A world-class Champagne from an artisanal family producer, the Diebolt-Vallois Cuvée Prestige is nothing short of brilliant.

A full, ripe wine with a touch of toastiness. It is fresh, but it is also powered, rich and open. Yellow fruits give the extra fruitiness. The aftertaste is dry with ripe acidity.
