Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta is one of the oldest estates in Montepulciano. Owned by the Svetoni family since the early 1800s, the property began as a polycultural estate, spanning 400 hectares with 22 farms of various sharecropping products, in addition to wine. Today, the estate is under the leadership of Giorgio della Seta and his three children Marco, Vannozza and Galdina. They oversee the now 70-hectare property of which 20 are planted to vine. The family organically farms (since 2015) four crus in the historic Gracciano region: Casale, Toraia, Maramai, and Podere Rovisci. Prugnolo Gentile (a clone of Sangiovese) and Merlot are grown on the silty-clay soils with vine age ranging from 20-25 years. A small amount of Trebbiano and Malvasia is also grown for Vin Santo production. Renowned winemakers Nicolò d'Afflitto and Beppe Rigoli — with over 70 combined years of experience — crafts sensational wines that highlight the uniqueness of the native varietals while also showing respect to their hallowed terroir.

Radiant ruby red shading gracefully toward garnet at the rim, this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens with an intense and beautifully layered bouquet. Aromas of violet and crushed rose petals billow from the glass, unfolding into ripe morello cherry, succulent plum and a medley of small red berries. Subtle notes of worn leather, sweet baking spice, and a touch of earthy savoriness add depth and refinement. On the palate, it is dry and impeccably structured, with velvety tannins that glide seamlessly across the tongue. The fruit remains vibrant and pure, balanced by fresh acidity and a savory undertone that speaks to its Tuscan origins. Elegant and harmonious throughout, it culminates in a remarkably long, energetic finish that lingers with hints of dark cherry, spice and a whisper of minerality. Pair with aged cheeses, hearty pasta dishes or roasted red meats or game. For a traditional treat, try this Vino Nobile with Bistecca alla Fiorentina.
