In 1894, Ferdinand Charleux founded what would eventually become Domaine Maurice Charleux & Fils in Dezize-les-Maranges south west of Santenay, at the southern border of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. In 1970, Maurice took over the vineyards and began selling wine under his own name, eventually handing the reins to his son Vincent who currently is in charge. Today, the domaine covers just under 10 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines that are farmed sustainably.

La Fussière is a Premier Cru vineyard in Maranges with soils of white limestone over blue-colored marl with fossils strewn throughout. This 100% Chardonnay is fermented and aged in oak barrels, 20% of which are new. The oak gives the wine some flesh and roundness, though this is a fresh, lively Premier Cru with plenty of energy and refreshment.
