After 10 years away from Sicily, Gaetano di Carlo returned to his native land in 2019, to fulfill a passion that had captivated him since he was a child… becoming a farmer. Gaetano chose to settle on five hectares in Corleone, in the province of Palermo, one of the most fertile areas in Sicily. Here, he cultivates Catarratto, Nero d’Avola, Frappato and Perricone on limestone-rich soils found only in the Corleone countryside. Gaetano’s wines are spontaneously fermented and bottled without fining or filtration.

Gaetano’s “Lù” is 100% Catarratto sourced from vines of a minimum of 30 years of age. The name is short for Luca and is to honor his father and son who share the moniker. The Lù displays a pale, straw yellow in the glass with light green reflections. This wine is aromatically intense, offering vibrant notes of citrus, white flowers and crushed chalk. The palate is fresh and lively with flavors of ruby red grapefruit and tangerine that mingle with a delightful acidity and fine minerality. The finish is persistent and complex. Enjoy with soft cheeses, pan-seared trout or chicken served with lemon butter.
