Origin | California, Central Coast, Edna Valley |
The "winemaking" bug hit Stephen Ross Dooley early: in his teenage years curiosity in wine led him to make rhubarb and apple wines in his family's basement. His curiosity evolved into a passion for winemaking, which led to a degree in Enology from UC Davis. He worked in a number of different parts of California but ultimately settled in the Central Coast, setting up an estate vineyard, Stone Corral Vineyard, in Edna Valley and winery and tasting room in San Luis Obispo. He and his team craft wines from quality vineyards in different parts of California.
The Stephen Ross Edna Valley Chardonnay is a blend of three different vineyard sites. It is 100% fermented in barrel, 33% new and undergoes a full malolactic fermentation, lees stiring and sur lie aging for nine months in barrel. Aromas of toasty oak intermingle with ripe tropical fruit flavors of mango and pineapple. On the palate, the wine is rich and velvetty with enough acidity to keep it lively. Enjoy with lobster risotto, broiled monkfish or roast chicken.
