The von Kisel Rot is made from 100% Blaufränkisch grown in the estate's red gravel soils in Burgenland. The grapes come from 20 year old vines, are fermented in stainless steel and aged for six months in old oak barrels. In the glass, the wine pours an alluring dark ruby with a violet rim. The nose is expressive with aromas of strawberries and wild berries that are accented by a subtle note of fresh earth. Well-integrated tannins frame the beautiful berry flavors that are complemented by a hint of delicate spice and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied with a long finish, enjoy this Blaufränkisch with a roast pork sandwich, cured meats and cheeses, or fried sausages.
