Domaine de la Rosière is located in the village of Jongieux, which is the largest of Savoie's 17 appellations. The estate dates back to the late 19th century and was expanded to its present size in the 1970's and 80's. Eric Carrel cultivates 13.5 hectares of vines in the Jongieux and Marestel appellations, all planted with the traditional varieties of the region: Jacquère, Altesse, Pinot Noir, Gamay and the unique red Mondeuse. 100% of the production is estate-bottled. The Jongieux vineyards are steep, southwest- facing slopes created by ancient glaciers at an altitude between 400 and 500 meters with a warm microclimate. The limestone slopes of the Jongieux appellation allow the grapes to ripen more fully than in any other region, producing full, balanced and refreshing wines.

Domaine de la Rosière's 100% Mondeuse is made from a 2 hectare plot of vines grown on limestone soils at an altitude of 350 meters. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel (70% destemmed), then aged for 8 months in tank. Eric Carrel takes special care to manage the tannins during fermentation and maturation — he is the first producer to use micro-oxygenation in Savoie — resulting in a soft, textural wine. The Domaine de la Rosière Mondeuse has an opaque, dark purple color with aromas and flavors of blackberries, cassis, dark chocolate, licorice and a steely minerality, all framed by soft tannins and a distinct alpine freshness. Enjoy with steak tartare, cured meats or firm cheeses.
