The Buffet family has been farming in Burgundy since 1692, though their official domaine didn't begin until 1849. Over the years, the family has amassed an enviable holidng of exceptional, regional, village and premier cru sites in Volnay, Pommard, Pernand-Vergelesses and Savigny-les-Beaune. Currently, the estate is run by Marc-Olivier Buffet, the seventh generation, and consists of just over 8 hectares of vines, producing wine from over 15 different appellations. The Buffet philosophy is to "speak with" the terroir, limiting human influence to produce individual wines that are representative of their terroir.
Domaine François Buffet's Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge is made from 100% Pinot Noir grown in the Côte d'Or. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented traditionally, with aging in old oak barrels for about 18 months. Light ruby in color with garnet highlights, this lovely Bourgogne Rouge shows startling purity of fruit combined with a racy, juicy texture and lively finish. Enjoy with marinated grilled hangar steak.
