Gutiérrez Colosía, a Sherry firm based in the town of El Puerto de Santa María, traces its roots back to 1838. For much of the twentieth century, the firm operated as an almacenista, aging and selling their wine to larger bodegas. It wasn't until 1997 that Juan Carlos Gutiérrez began bottling wines under his own label, Gutiérrez Colosía. The bodega benefits from being located on the banks of the Guadalete River, very close to where it empties into the Bay of Cádiz, where the resulting humidity produces a healthy, intense flor and distinct saline character in the resulting wines.

The Gutiérrez Colosía Amontillado is made form 100% Palomino Fino grapes. This Amontillado is over nine years of age: three years under flor as a Fino Sherry, and then at least five years of oxidative aging. The wine displays a warm richness and nutty character that is balanced by a focused and subtle salinity that harkens back to its aging under flor. Enjoy this wine with hearty soups or consommés, but also meats, poultry, mushrooms and hard cheeses. It is extremely versatile on the table and cannot be recommended highly enough with a wide range of dishes.

Dry, elegant and light-bodied, with hints of date, toasted hazelnut, singed parchment paper and Earl Grey tea. Delivers a high-toned, persistent finish. Drink now.
