Winery Carić - Pošip 2025

The Carić family has tended vineyards on the Croatian island of Hvar for generations, but it was in 1993, when Ivo Carić established Vino-Hvar, that the family began producing wines under its own name. Today, Winery Carić roughly seven hectares spread across the island’s distinct vineyard sites, with additional fruit coming from trusted growers. Their vineyards include parcels in the historic Stari Grad Plain, the ancient Greek agricultural landscape whose original dry-stone boundaries have survived for more than two millennia, as well as the terraced hillsides surrounding Svirče. Carić places equal importance on work in the vineyard and the winery, with a particular commitment to Hvar’s indigenous varietials — including Bogdanuša, Kuč, Maraština, Darnekuša, Plavac Mali and Pošip — and to expressing the island’s remarkably diverse soils and microclimates through its wines.

The 2025 Pošip opens with an expressive Mediterranean nose of white peach, pear and ripe citrus, followed by delicate floral notes and a subtle thread of wild herbs. On the palate, juicy stone fruit and lemony citrus are joined by hints of almond and fennel, while bright acidity and a lightly saline character give the wine an energetic, distinctly Adriatic feel. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, it finishes with refreshing citrus and mineral notes that invite another sip. A natural partner for grilled or simply roasted Adriatic fish, shrimp and other shellfish, octopus, lemon-herb chicken, fresh goat cheese or a classic Hvar-style fish stew.
