Weingut Bründlmayer - Grüner Veltliner 1 L 2022

The Josef & Philipp Bründlmayer estate was established when Josef’s father began the family farm, raising livestock and tending to a few vines, the grapes from which were delivered to the local cooperative. During the 1980’s, Josef started to teach himself how to make wine using the grapes that were normally set aside for the co-op, beginning without a press or pump. What started as a part-time passion eventually grew into an actual business. While immersing himself in winemaking, Josef was also acquiring vineyards sites: plots that were considered too hard to work because they were too high or too terraced. In Kremstal, these sites were actually some of the best in the region. When Josef’s son, Philipp, joined him in 2015, the estate’s progression really took off: innovations in winemaking and vineyard management, along with new wines and labels. Josef and Philipp meticulously farm their 100+ vineyard plots by hand and pay strict attention to detail in the cellar, furthering their love of wine, craftsmanship and tradition.

The Bründlmayer Grüner Veltliner pours a pale yellow with a green tinge, displaying aromas of citrus-washed orchard fruit and melon accented with a touch of white pepper and spice. The palate is fresh and bright, with flavors of apple, honeydew and lemon zest complemented by lively acidity and a light crushed stone minerality. This Grüner finishes crisp and refreshing. Excellent with sushi or sashimi, but you may enjoy this delicious white with stuffed artichokes or a salad of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and asparagus tips dressed with a lemon vinaigrette.
