Vina Skaramuča - Plavac 2024

The Skaramuča family has been making wine on Croatia’s Pelješac Peninsula for generations, with the modern winery taking shape in 1992 when founder Ivo Skaramuča became one of the pioneers of private winemaking in Dalmatia. Today, his children Igor and Ivana, along with her husband Branimir Anđelić, continue the family’s work, overseeing vineyards and winemaking while investing in the winery’s continued development. The family farms some of the most important vineyard land on Pelješac, including 20 hectares on the steep southern slopes of Dingač, where intense Mediterranean sun, Adriatic breezes and rocky, limestone-dominated soils create ideal conditions for Plavac Mali. Their wines are firmly rooted in this indigenous Dalmatian variety and in the rugged landscape that has made Pelješac one of Croatia’s defining wine regions.

The 2024 Plavac offers a bright, approachable side of Plavac Mali, opening with an inviting impression of ripe red and dark fruit accented by subtle floral and herbal notes. On the palate, juicy cherry and red plum lead into darker berry flavors, with hints of violet, Mediterranean herbs and a gentle earthiness adding depth. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively, while supple tannins give it enough structure without weighing down its easy-drinking character. A beautifully versatile Croatian red, it is especially well suited to grilled pork or lamb, cevapčići (minced meat sausages) and other Balkan-style grilled meats, roasted chicken, hearty vegetable dishes or simply a platter of cured meats and aged cheeses.
