Description

The Oakville Winery was the ninth bonded winery founded in California by two Frenchman in 1877, when it was known as "Brun and Chaix Oakville Winery". The Pelissa family first purchased 35 acres of land in Calistoga in 1903. Since then, the family has expanded to own 1,000 acres of land in Napa Valley, of which almost 700 are vineyards. In 1993, the family purchased the historic Oakville Winery and formed the Napa Wine Company and Bonded Winery #9. In 2009, the Pelissa family released their first vintage of Oakville Winery Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. The family has farmed their estate vineyards organically since the purchase of the winery in 1993.

The Oakville Winery Cabernet Sauvignon is made from Cabernet grown in the Pelissa Vineyard of Oakville. The wine is aged for 24 months in 50% new French oak barrels. This Cabernet Sauvignon is a style that reflects modern Oakville. Aromas of black fruits and notes of vibrant cedar. Richness of black cherry and black currant. A well-structured wine with a rounded mouth-feel and undertones of toast and smoke. Medium-bodied with bold tannins; this wine will drink well for the next 10 years.
