Mundo Revés - "Les Calcaires" Cabernet Franc 2023

Founded by French winemakers Quentin Pommier and Thibault Lepoutre, Mundo Revés is a terroir-driven project rooted in the dramatic high-altitude vineyards of Argentina's Uco Valley. Working primarily from a 26-hectare vineyard in Los Chacayes while sourcing from exceptional parcels in Altamira, Gualtallary, and El Cepillo, the estate focuses on expressing the unique character of Mendoza's limestone-laced, alluvial soils. Organic and regenerative farming practices, native fermentations and a low-intervention approach allow each site to speak with clarity and precision. The result is a collection of wines that marry Old World sensibility with the energy and freshness of the Andes, establishing Mundo Revés as one of the most exciting voices in Argentina's modern wine movement.

Resplendent ruby red in the glass, the 2022 Les Calcaires — 100% Cabernet Franc — opens with expressive aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry, crushed violets, graphite and fresh mountain herbs, all framed by a distinctive chalky minerality. The palate is vibrant and energetic, combining juicy red and black fruits with notes of cracked pepper, savory herbs and a subtle floral lift. Fine-grained tannins and bright natural acidity provide precision and structure, while the limestone soils of Paraje Atlamira leave a persistent, saline mineral imprint on the long, mouthwatering finish. Elegant rather than powerful, this is a beautifully transparent expression of Cabernet Franc. A wonderful accompaniment to wild mushroom and lentil ragù over creamy polenta, pan-seared duck breast with a cherry glaze, herb-crusted lamb chops or grilled skirt steak with chimichurri.
